How to Help Your 1st Grader

- Set aside time daily for your child.
- Be supportive.
- Don't try everything at once.
- Have fun and be enthusiastic so your child will be a life-long learner.
- Read with your child daily. Let them help choose what they read and talk with them about their reading.

                Choose a new title.
                Predict the ending.  
                If you were the author, what would you do differently?
- Work on math facts and link them to the child’s world.
          Count the fruit you buy in the supermarket or the red cars you see on the road.
          Students learn best from frequent 10 minute sessions rather than less frequent, longer sessions.
