Poetry and Images of Nature
Moth

I don’t have a pet. Our apartment won’t allow them, but there are cats in the building and I see dogs on the street. For this assignment I found a poem about things in nature that makes sense for all things in nature.

Hurt No Living Thing

     Hurt no living thing,
     Ladybird nor butterfly,
     Nor moth with dusty wing,
     Nor cricket chirping cheerily,
Nor grasshopper, so light of leap,
     Nor dancing gnat,
     Nor beetle fat,
     Nor harmless worms that creep.

               Sing-Song, 1872
